Overcoming Mindless Activity Relapse
Seeking Accountability from My Cousin to Break My Addictive Habits

I know I shouldn’t make decisions late at night, but tonight I did. I asked my cousin to set up a passcode for the App Limit on my PC to finally end my cycle of distractions. I couldn’t do it myself. I’ve blocked all my addictive websites, including YouTube where my favorite FlipTop videos are available, and I’m only allowed 10 minutes per day on each site—no extra time, which feels crazy! for normal people nowadays.
I also asked her to lock it in for 3 years. There are consequences: 5,000, 10,000, and 15,000 pesos penalty for any future bypass per year. If I don't pay she can opt to charge me 1, 2, 3 months of imprisonment, respectively.
No changing of passcode is allowed. If I forget to change, forcely alter or bypass the passcode, I’ll face the consequences.
I really like the accountability. It’s going to make life harder, but I think this is the best way to rewire my brain. If I rely on my willpower alone, I’ll keep relapsing. I’m implementing this because this PC of mine should be used for creative work, not mindless activities. So, screw it, this is the change I need.
For 3 years! Hopefully it will work!, I won't regret this for sure!
This blog is proof of my commitment to this change. I’ll update you on my progress in the future.
Yesterday, I decided to uninstall the Chrome browser because my Mac couldn’t detect the YouTube website and block it. I was shocked—I had been waiting for YouTube to be blocked, but after an hour, it still wasn’t. My autonomous brain found enjoyment in it, so here we go again.
Today, I will practice mindfulness and focus on the most activity with concentration. If it works... I will make it work. I’m treating this as a challenge—Mindful Journaling & Tracking Challenge.
The game is on! 🎯✨
