Months ago, πŸ“… I planned to donate blood for the third time. 🩸 But another desire was brewing. ❀️‍πŸ”₯ Inspired by my recent hair coloring adventure, πŸ‘©πŸ» I craved further exploration of self-expression. 😎 I wanted to subtly tweak my natural look, πŸ˜‰ something temporary but impactful. πŸ‘‘ Ear piercings seemed perfect! πŸ’Ž

Honestly, I've been wanting to wear earrings for such a long time already.

However, my mom has always strongly opposed them. So, I devised a playful strategy. I started wearing clip-on earrings occasionally, teasing her and my sister by pretending they were real piercings. While they'd often catch me out, it subtly introduced the idea and hopefully softened the blow when it became real.

Today was finally my blood donation day. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen concern, I wasn't eligible. Frustrated, I thought, "Why not get pierced today instead?" So, off I went to UniSilver and got both ears pierced. Boom!

Returning home, I greeted my mom with a happy Mother's Day message and a cake for my sister's upcoming birthday. Then, the moment of truth: I revealed my new piercings. My sister loved them, but my mom's initial reaction was a bit…meh. However, when I playfully insisted she take a closer look, she did express some surprise and annoyance. Thankfully, it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated. However, she did make a comment about me looking like an addict, clearly stereotyping people with piercings.

Mission accomplished

I broke Mom's rule! But importantly, it wasn't a rebellion; it was a harmless way to add a touch of personal style to my appearance. I'm happy with just these two piercings, and have no plans for more right now.

So, what sparked this desire to get pierced?

Breaking Norms

Firstly, it's about challenging the idea that earrings are solely feminine. Men can absolutely wear them without fear of judgment. It's a cool and unique way to express yourself.

Embracing Individuality

Secondly, piercings can boost confidence by adding a little extra "you" to your look. It's a personal touch that sets you apart.

Just For Fun

For me, it's simply about having fun and adding a cool, low-maintenance accessory. And most importantly, it's about breaking stereotypes. Piercings are about self-expression, fashion, and human artistry. They're not about addiction or negativity.

Looking back, it's interesting to see cultures where men traditionally wore earrings. Ultimately, it's a personal choice. For me, this experiment felt right. It's not dangerous (assuming proper aftercare), and it's a way to showcase who I am without harming myself. It's simply about looking good and feeling good.
