Balancing Dreams and Family: Insights from Kuya Nelson
Navigating Career Goals and Personal Values

"It's hard to balance family life,"
said Kuya Nelson, "dividing yourself between your kids and wife." π¨βπ©βπ¦ He echoed Sir Star's advice: π‘ "Enjoy life and pursue your dreams first; π₯³ let the right person find you. π©π» Once you're successful, they'll be the ones to approach you. βΈ(ο½‘Λ α΅ Λ )βΈβ‘ But don't be too picky." π¬
We also discussed my career aspirations. I expressed my interest in the film industry. Kuya Nelson and Mich both suggested applying for apprenticeships, considering the high costs associated with entering the film industry.
Kuya Nelson advised me to finish college and secure an IT job, emphasizing its high pay. He offered to refer me to his sibling managing an IT department once I graduate.
We also touched on our mother's strong religious beliefs, contrasting with our less devout practices. Kuya Nelson shared his preference for provincial life over the hustle and bustle of Manila. He plans to settle in a province of his choice upon early retirement, driven by the peace it offers compared to city life.
He stressed the importance of frugality and budgeting to survive in Manila, cautioning against spending time, money, or effort on unproductive pursuits or people he doesn't personally care about.
When I first met Kuya Nelson, I was pleasantly surprised. He was quite different from what I expected in terms of physical appearance. He's also kind and a guiding figure; I find myself eager to listen whenever he speaks. Overall, I'm glad to have met him in person.
