College Night Out

It’s 11:10 PM, and I'm feeling a bit tipsy, sipping on liquor with my friends—Cezar, Rowel, Paclibar Grandia, and Shan. Honestly, I can't say that this is the most fulfilling way to spend my time. I'm currently at Cubiks, surrounded by people, many of whom are wearing clothes that seem almost vulgar, all seemingly ready to hook up with drunk men. I can’t help but notice that some of them seem insecure, and I can't escape the feeling of judgment in the air.

I keep telling myself that this is the year I’ll try new things, like clubbing—things with dear classmates/friends I’ve never really experienced before. But tonight, I can't shake the feeling that it’s not really aligning with my values. Despite that, I realize that being here is giving me a firsthand look at a side of the world I’ve never known before.

Life is full of craziness and unpredictability, and while I can’t trash talk these people for doing something different from what I’d choose, I do wonder about the motivations behind their actions. Everyone has a story, and it’s not always easy to understand why people are where they are. Even if I wish they’d focus on something more meaningful for society, I can't ignore that they’re still contributing to the economy in their own way.

Regardless of all my reflections, I can’t deny that it was a fun experience—especially as the last dance for college. I’m grateful for everything I've learned along the way, even if it’s not always what I expected.
