Breaking My Vegetarian Streak: A Memorable Farewell in La Union
Why I Decided to Eat Meat After Years of Vegetarianism

After 2-3 years of being vegetarian, I decided to eat meat again! On the last day of our trip in La Union—a bittersweet moment of saying goodbye after a short but unforgettable time together—we shared our final meal at a Jollibee branch. We ordered two buckets of Chickenjoy, and as I took a video of myself eating, I knew it would surprise people. When I shared the video, close friends were shocked and commented, “But aren’t you vegetarian?” Some were even excited at the idea of sharing a meal with meat together.
So, why did I eat meat that day? The main reason was the exceptional company—Raymond, YY, Jean, July, Mico, Beverly, Ian—and the many first experiences that made this trip special. I wanted to make the trip even more memorable, so I decided to break my vegetarian streak, just for a day.
Even though I strayed from my usual values, this rare choice added to the excitement of the experience. Sometimes, doing something unexpected can make an occasion unforgettable. It’s true: rare moments spark curiosity and excitement in others, adding value and a hint of intrigue to our lives.
